Case studies and research for various aspects of teleworking and flexible work

At various conferences, seminars and summits over the last two decades presenters from a wide range of organisations, public, private and charity sector have talked about how teleworking and various forms of flexible working have resulted in a range of benefits. These have included financial savings, productivity gains and improved staff recruitment and retention. Despite this long history of positive results, researchers often find it difficult to identify the right information to support their business case.
Here we are gathering together case studies and research reports to help anyone who wants to look at examples and evidence. We hope this will help both organisations looking at implementing some form of flexible working and those who want to request it from their employer.
If you know a good case study or some relevant research then please contact us and we will consider adding it here.

Statistics

Official statistics on teleworking in the UK are produced by the ONS as part of the Labour Force Survey. The last detailed report they produced on the subject was in 2005 http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/article.asp?id=1284 showing that 8% of the workforce were teleworkers by their definition.
A 2008 survey for the CBI found that 46% of employers offered teleworking; up from 14% two years before http://tinyurl.com/cn6rgy
